	What are LEDs? LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. These are small, solid-state devices that emit light. Originally available in red, now LEDs are available in a variety of colors… bright white being the hardest to produce and therefore the most costly. Unlike halogen bulbs, LEDs run cool so don't need any ventilation. Unlike incandescent bulbs, the white LEDs used in these light bases are extremely white. LEDs also benefit from a very long life span with most suppliers rating the devices at up to 100,000 hours.
